Whilst there were some airshows last year, with the risk from COVID-19 I chose not to attend them, especially at the cost. My thoughts recently have turned to the future.

However with the advent of the vaccines and the fact that I will shortly be fully vaccinated, I personally cannot wait to attend an airshow again. The 2021 season has already begun and I am so close to visiting my first event at Ragley Hall. It is so important to me that I return to visiting events to get a sense of normality once again. Local shows may play a big part in this however, those that have seen my images and UKAR articles will know that I like to travel. This year is no exception. I have plans to travel to Belgium at least twice, it is therefore so frustrating to see the Indian Strain taking hold jeopardising these plans.

There are other small signs of normality returning to the airshow world too. Over the past week the RAF Typhoon team and the Red Arrows have achieved PDA, international teams are starting to announce their calendars and, more shows are putting tickets on sale. There is a real buzz around the enthusiast community that the first signs of recovery are appearing. Sure, 2021 will be a difficult year still with no RIAT however I am certain 2022 will now be normal.

The only things that can derail this are people not getting vaccinated and not being sensible. Please, everyone, don’t let that happen.

I wish everyone a great 2021 airshow season and will post more images soon.
